The BSc Nursing 4th year students of CPMS College of Nursing conducted a school health programme at Fatashil Ganeshpara Primary School Assamese and Boro Medium on Saturday,12th August, where students were demonstrated and received health instruction on personal hygiene, food hygiene, conjunctivitis, home accident and burn prevention, and handwashing techniques. Following this, a role-play on "Good and Bad Touch" was also performed under the direction of Jyoti Pegu Maam.
The physiotherapy department of PEWS, with 32 students, the Principal of CPMS, Dr. Pallabi Goswami (PT), and faculty members Dr. Sukanya Baruah (PT) and Dr. Rohit Sharma (PT), attended the first-ever two-day national conference on August 4 and 5, organised by the IAPWC at the Constitution Club, Delhi, in the presence of notable guests such as Prof. Dr. Michael Landry (PT), president of the World Confederation of Physiotherapists, and various other delegates from across the country.
The students took part in a range of activities, including logo and poster presentations, paper presentations, and cultural events. The group excelled in the cultural competition and brought national-level accolades to the PEWS institution. Additionally, the IAPWC recognized Dr. Pallabi Goswami (PT), who also serves as State co-ordinator of IAP women cell for the state of Assam, for her noteworthy contributions to the field of physiotherapy in the region.
Today, Post Basic B. Sc. Nursing 1st-year students of PEWS College of Nursing participate in an awareness event at the Railway Hospital on the occasion of "World Breastfeeding Week". The program was graced by many intellectual individuals. Together, they engaged in meaningful discussions, exchanging valuable insights and experiences. Our students of Post Basic BSC Nursing 1st-year beautifully portrayed the challenges faced by working parents through an engaging role play on the theme "breastfeeding and working parents". As we mark "World Breastfeeding Week", let us all pledge to support breastfeeding and working parents to create a brighter and healthier future for all our little ones.
We are elated to share that our BSC Nursing 2nd-year students have again showcased their brilliance by securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in the quiz competition at the awareness program organized by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics on the occasion of #ORSDay and #ORSWEEK. Moreover, the program was a huge success as many resource person from the healthcare industry graced the event.Their passion for spreading awareness about the importance of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) was truly commendable.
Students from the MSC Nursing and ANM programs at the CPMS College of Nursing took part in the rally held today in celebration of the World Hepatitis Day with the slogan "RUN FOR YOUR LIVER" to raise awareness about hepatitis B and c prevention. The Northeast Digestive and Liver Foundation organized the rally, which started at 6:00 AM from Latasil Playground to Nehru Stadium, B Baruah Road, Guwahati.
As part of their curriculum, M.Sc Nursing (1st year) students of the Community Health Nursing Speciality conducted a disaster preparedness program. Mr. Abu Tallah, Senior Station Officer of the State Disaster Management Authority, along with other five members, displayed disaster preparedness methods. Mr. Tallah discussed various kinds of disaster preparedness measures, and a live demonstration on fire was performed utilizing a fire extinguisher, sand, water, and leafy branches. Additionally, our hearts swelled with pride as Mr. Ram Murti Sharma, the esteemed Chairman of PEWS, personally hoisted the flag. To all the wonderful attendees, we express our deepest gratitude for gracing us with your presence and active participation, which made this occasion all the more special.

A two-day hands-on workshop was organized on 24th and 25th June at the PEWS auditorium on "Fundamentals Of Osteopathic Manual Therapy ( Lumbar and Thorax) Level-2 " by Dr. Ujwal Bhattacharya, a renowned physiotherapist in Assam.
The workshop for CPMS students commenced with the felicitation of Dr. Bhattacharya, who is a professor cum Dean at Pratiksha Institute of Allied Health Sciences, a Fellowship in Osteopathic Manual, as well as an accredited teacher of the Indian School of Advanced Biomechanical Correction; along with other PEWS group dignitaries, followed by the lighting of the lamp. Over 25 students and faculty attended. The workshop ended with certificate distribution and a vote of thanks on June 25th, 2023.
